Menu
There is only a single menu entry that pops up a dynamic floating toolbar, from where all functionality is available.
Once, GPS connection is established and fixed positions are availble, the coordinates will get reflected in the X,Y and Z textboxes on the right hand side of the toolbar. There is also a field that displays current precision information, and if this value exceeds the tolerance, the background colour will change to red. If you try to create a point at this stage (tolerance violated), you will get a dialog asking whether you really want to create the point. The floating toolbar hosts the following commands:
6 Configurable buttons
- 6 configurable buttons to create punctual objects directly from GPS coordinates. User can specify blockname, layer and whehter this punctual object should get inserted in 2D or in 3D. If 3D is choosen, the elevation will be added as text to the drawing.
If nothing specific is set, the default settings will be used here and these buttons have the following labels:
- PRP1
- PRP2
- PRP3
- WPI
- WRI1
- WRI2
Info and housenumber
- INFO : to insert a symbol with textual information (blockname = MARKINFO), position can be obtained from GPS or specified manually by clicking in the drawing
- HNR : to insert a housenumber as text, position can be obtained from GPS or specified manually by clicking in the drawing. This command takes into account possible prefix and or suffix defined in the settings accesible via conf button.
Follow me toggle
- FOLLOW ME : toggle that when set to active (button is pressed down) navigates (pans) to the current location using predefined zoom scale which can be set in configuration.
Escape command and reset dynamic zoom
- ESC : sends AutoCAD ESCAPE command
- RESZ : reset zoom scale so user can continue to real time zoom in/out (similar as in google maps or earth). For real time zooming, the user can press the up/down triangle at any time.
Creation of punctual and linear objects
- POINT-LINE : activates a new dialog where user can create any punctual or linear object using smart techniques and different constructions, directly in the field. Some constructions:
> mid between 2 points (for poles etc) > insert orthogonal vertex to the left, right, before or after (excentric measurement) > intersection between 2 lines (4 points) > intersection between 2 circles (2 points and 2 radii)
Erase and Undo
- ERASE : erase the current selection. Objects are not really erased but transformed to some specific layer. So you first select the objects to erase before activating this command
- UND : activates AutoCAD UNDO command
Move Existing objects (MOV)
- MOV : activates a new dialog where user can move existing objects (one at a time, or select reference to move objects in cluster)
Navigating around
- PAN : lets the user pan in the drawing by clicking 2 points
- ZW : zoom window
- ZP : zoom previous
- ZE : zoom extents
Application configuration
- CONF : activates the config dialog box where user can set different options
Configure GPS
- GPS : configure gps related items.
Before starting, make sure that you have a valid connection with your GPS and that NMEA data is coming in. This can be verified by the icon in the lower right part of the status bar. The icon has 3 possible values:
- RED colour: no valid information is received. This can have multiple reasons
- YELLOW colour : NMEA data is received, coordinates are available but no fixed position. When this status is available, you can use Novapoint OnSite for navigating purposes.
- DARK GREEN colour : valid NMEA data is received, and fixed positions are available. When this status is available, you can use Novapoint OnSite for surveying purposes
- GGA : general to detect fixed positions (independant of hardware vendor)
- $GNLLQ for Leica, this string contains local corrected coordinates and precision information (be carefull when using Leica Viva system: you need to set TALKER ID = 'GN' in order to get $GNLLQ, and don't forget to load required coordinate system to GPS. Otherwise the $GNLLQ string won't contain any LOCAL coordinate information)
- $PGNV for Trimble, this string contains local corrected coordinates and precision information
- » : shows all details in the dialog toolbar (option to save space and have more room for graphical area)
- « : collapse the detailed version of the toolbar to its standard appearance
Utility commands
- REG : activates AutoCAD REGEN command
- SAVE : saves the drawing
- EXIT : end application
- BRK : starts the break command. user can define a cutting edge. Lines and polylines that intersect this cutting edge will get an additional vertex at the intersection. In case of line entity, 2 new segments will get created. For a polyline the segments will get exploded and the item that intersects with the cutting edge will get recreated as 2 separate segments
- ENTR : activates AutoCAD enter command
- EXPL : explodes all objects in current selection set. You first select the objects to explode before activating this command. only linear objects are exploded. The aim of this function is to be able to select existing linear objects and use their coordinates
